Applications are open for the Summer School programme: The Circular City - Towards a Sustainable Urban Ecosystem

𝗧𝗼𝗱𝗮𝘆, 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝟳𝟬% 𝗼𝗳 𝗴𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗲𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. 𝗬𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗮𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗽𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

This summer, TheRockGroup (TRG) leads an inspiring programme at the University of Amsterdam that explores how cities can evolve into regenerative ecosystems. From circular economy principles to systemic urban transformation, we connect theory to practice and ambition to action.

The programme is designed and taught by our experts Daphne Truijens, PhD and Cas Smitsmans, who combine hands-on experience in circular economy, systems thinking and urban sustainability with academic depth.

During this UvA Summer School School programme 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝗰𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗶𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝘀𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗳𝘁 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘀 𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗴𝘆, 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘁𝘀𝗲𝗹𝗳.

Through interactive sessions, field insights in Amsterdam and a collaborative group project, participants will:

🔹 explore circular strategies across urban systems

🔹 examine behavioural change and inclusion within the transition

🔹 gain practical tools to apply circularity in their own city or organisation

𝗔𝘁 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗥𝗼𝗰𝗸𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽, 𝘄𝗲 𝘀𝗲𝗲 𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝘀 𝗮 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗱𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Through our expertise in Circular Economy, Systems Thinking and Urban Sustainability, we support cities and organisations in moving from ambition to implementation. This Summer School reflects exactly that mission: pushing beyond concepts and equipping participants to shape regenerative urban futures.
