South Africa 2026 Local Circularity Summit and E-Waste Festival

On 12 and 13 October 2026, TheRockGroup, in partnership with E-waste recycling authority (Era), will host the South Africa 2026 Local Circularity Summit and E-Waste Festival at Maker’s Landing at the V&A Waterfront. Across two days, the Summit will bring together stakeholders working on circular economy, electronic waste management and local economic development to explore how South Africa can build more resilient circular systems.

What to expect

Day 1: Exploring South Africa’s WEEE landscape

The first day focuses on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) and the developments shaping electronic waste management in South Africa.

Sessions will explore:

  • Evolving WEEE regulations
  • Extended Producer Responsibility and producer responsibility
  • Key waste themes shaping the future of electronic waste management
  • Opportunities and challenges within South Africa’s e-waste landscape

Day 2: Circular economy in action

The second day shifts the focus from understanding the landscape to practical solutions. Participants will explore how circular economy approaches can help build resilient local systems that create value for people, nature and business. Through plenary sessions, breakout sessions, expos and challenges, the programme will explore practical action and how material flows can become opportunities for local value creation, entrepreneurship and employment.

National Tech & E-Waste Drive

As part of the Summit, we will also host a National Tech & E-Waste Drive. Participants are invited to bring their unwanted electronic devices to the event, helping put circularity into practice while drawing attention to the scale and opportunities of electronic waste in South Africa in partnership with DigiCircle4all.
