Dutch Flower Group: CSRD Implementation
Context
Dutch Flower Group is a family-owned company and one of the world's largest traders of cut flowers, bouquets and plants. Through more than 30 specialised trading companies, it serves the full floriculture chain from grower to consumer, with operations and suppliers in countries such as Kenya, Ethiopia and Ecuador. The company set out to build a solid sustainability reporting foundation aligned with the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD). At the same time, it wanted clear insight into the environmental and social impacts across its international value chain.
Approach
TheRockGroup acted as advisor and executor throughout Dutch Flower Group's CSRD journey. We began with a double materiality assessment, identifying and prioritising the most relevant environmental, social and governance topics across the value chain. This assessment was later updated by adding stakeholders, increasing the level of detail and integrating the company's own operations.
Building on this, we also:
- Performed an EU Taxonomy analysis to assess the eligibility of turnover, capital expenditure and operating expenditure against the technical screening criteria.
- Developed an environmental and human rights due diligence policy and supported the implementation of relevant CSRD reporting requirements.
- Designed a CSRD onboarding programme for Dutch Flower Group’s ESG controller, aligned with KPMG’s work to embed reporting knowledge internally.
Impact
Together, these deliverables give Dutch Flower Group a solid foundation for its first CSRD reporting cycle, with sustainability reporting knowledge now embedded internally.
